Welcome to the USVI Tourism Development Plan Home Page
Following the November 2011 announcement by Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. to design and implement a five-year rolling tourism development plan for the Territory, the Department of Tourism hosted a series of stakeholder meetings from March 19 – 22, 2012 to ensure a diverse cross section of views was integrated into future tourism plans in the USVI.
The stakeholder meetings were designed to elicit ideas and recommendations from the community on a wide range of topics related to the tourism industry. To ensure maximum participation, the strategic visioning sessions took place at the St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses of the University of the Virgin Islands and at a satellite facility venue on St. John. Video conferencing technology facilitated simultaneous dialogue between the islands.
Each of the visioning retreat sessions was well attended and dynamic round table discussions generated a variety of innovative tourism sector recommendations.
Proceedings were video streamed and are in the process of being archived online on this website and available for viewing under the “SVR Session Videos” menu.
